I provide individual nutritional consulting for people with anything from minor health problems to severe and chronic illness, and to anyone wishing to positively enhance their quality of life. Health & Nutrition Writing
I love to combine my passion for nutrition with my love of writing! I write for my seasonal newsletter Elements™ and contribute regularly to my nutrition blog Roots & Seeds as well as several other prominent nutrition blogs. I also write for various editorial publications and for corporations on the topic of health and nutrition. Corporate Wellness Programs
More employers than ever before are now recognizing the benefits of corporate wellness initiatives in the workplace. This may take the form of a custom tailored series of workshops, lead group cleanses, or employer-funded nutritional counseling for employees. This popular series, designed by Barbara Mendez R.Ph M.S. in 2002, includes yoga classes along with nutrition discussions to help promote health and can be customized to meet the needs of any group (addiction, menopause, weight management, stress, depression, etc). These workshops are hours in length, and include a 45 minute yoga class followed by a snack and nutrition lecture. Handouts are provided as well as a folder to keep all the information together. Barbara is a popular and enthusiastic yoga teacher with a real understanding of what the individual or class needs. Combining Hatha Yoga with devotional music, Barbara’s classes are upbeat and fun, with an opportunity to learn about nutrition and health. Because she feels passionate about sharing information, Barbara uses the class setting to provide specific information on the benefits of postures and how to promote health through yoga and nutrition.
